Dreamers,
I will be clear, this issue is not as simple as the last. There is a turn here one that as a writer I am proud of and as an artist all I can do is hope that I did it justice. In issue 3 Fey finds him. Misiko and Gandolph have helped her go deeply into the woods of Nod. Find the place where evil dwells, where the Phobetore has drug Patches, and where he is holding him. There Fey finds herself paralyzed by fear. The nightmares of her mind have taken away the only thing that made her feel safe with her dad gone. There the sadness of the search turns to something more…
Most people find those moments. It may not be the same. Details are going to vary but all of us know the hurt. The fortunate of us find the friends who help us see the path. Lift us up to recover. In my case there is a group of brothers who were there through the chaos and helped me stay stable through it. When Dad passed it was talking to people like Maricar, and others that kept me sane. Those same voices listened. Their names are carved into my heart.
Sometimes friends go with you into the dark. They remind you that there is wonder even there. In my case it was things like the Whimsical storytelling moments with Camille. Writing adventures for my friends to wander through in our roll Playing games. Seeing them as toddlers and children growing up under Lon and Elle’s nose with their boys. Hearing them laugh when they play with their cousins. Each note of laughter stitched my bleeding heart. I cracked in Jeff’s Office screaming about how angry I was.
I am a rich man when it comes to friends and loved ones.
There are things to be grateful for in this life.
So in that spirit. Today at 4PM I launch book 3. I show you the power of the friends who stand with us and the emotions that both paralyze us an drive us.
